Disputes, your feedbacks for claims will be considered within the scope of the respective Standards and/or our Production tolerances.
PAINTED GLASS
Unless otherwise specified, painted glass is manufactured in a way that the back is closed, covering the light-tightness spandrel sections. If the glass back is open and receives daylight or the glass units are attached to one another, then this must be indicated before the order or quotation and an approval must be obtained on a witness sample.
In case it is requested that each glass consisting of the lamination is painted, then it is possible to paint them in a way the 2 painted surfaces do not face each other (painted surfaces are above in the kiln) (one inside and one outside). We are capable of meeting different requests making use of different technologies, and these requests must be specified at the order stage.
We manufacture painted glass (silk, digital or roll) at our factory production standards. Concerning all your feedbacks, as a rule, we inspect the respective locations considering that the installation takes place on the closed back (which does not receive light) (unless otherwise previously agreed upon). For the details, a mutual agreement must be reached upon and, a witness sample must be provided accordingly. In case these procedures fail to be requested and carried out accordingly before the purchase order, our specified production methods – rules apply.
When an enamel printed glass preferred to be manufactured in a light color is installed on a unit by means of a silicone or a similar material, there may be shades in the image of glass. With respect to a light enamel printed glass, there may be differences in terms of colors and shades between the small size and large size. This is not of a manufacturing defect, but a consequence of a heat treatment (tempering) process. Please contact our company before the purchase order in respect of such light colors.
Prior to the purchase order, it must be determined whether it is technically possible to carry out an edge painting process on a soft coated glass and other glass types. In particular, such marks left after scrapping on a coated glass are the inevitable consequences of this process and kept at minimum.
These image distortions, light transmissible point paint bubbles as may be caused due to this and similar situations are not considered under the scope of our company’s responsibility
TEMPERED GLASS
There are some distortions as an inevitable and unavoidable result of a heat treatment on the condition that tempering marks and humps and extraversions that could be only noticeable under certain light conditions are within the respective tolerances.
The purchase order should indicate how the glass is to be inserted to the tempering kiln transversally/longitudinally and, the feasibility for the introduction of the glass for tempering considering the width of the kiln. For all the tempered glass ordered, the customer is expected to indicate on the purchase order the tempering kiln direction and, the layout of the glass on the tempering rolls with a drawing. Tempering procedures take place depending on the occupancy rate of the kiln if no drawing is provided.
When the hot glass is in touch (conduction) with the glass rollers during the tempering procedures, some certain distortions known as roller waves occur. These distortions are the physical results of the production technique and, inevitable. These marks are more distinct on such glass with a higher level of reflection. Point or line defects on the tempered or partially tempered glass surface are visually inspected from a distance of 3 meters at vertically (in the shade on a sunny day) (with no direct light on the glass) and a decision is made accordingly.
Anisotropies occur on the tempered glass due to the internal tension distribution of the glass. It is not possible to prevent dark colored rings seen under polarized lights and perceived depending on the point of view. There is no bottom/upper limit for this at the respective standard and this is not considered a defect.
Due to microscopic nickel sulfide particles that may be present on the frit, there is a possibility of instant breakage for the fully tempered glass types after the tempering procedure. To minimize this risk, these fully tempered glass types may be subjected to heat soak testing and pre-selected accordingly. This test (heat soaked test) does not completely eliminate the risk of instant breakage, but significantly reduces it. In case the customer asks for a heat soaked test for the fully tempered glass, this must be indicated on the purchase order.
LAMINATED GLASS and LAMINATED SECURITY GLASS
Unless there is a warranty provided by the manufacturer/supplier of the interlayers (EVA-PVB-PU) used for the laminated glass manufactured by us, our company does not accept any responsibility for delamination (blooming, fading, condensation) and discoloration (which may occur after we have delivered the products). The impermeability for the edges, holes and cavities must be provided by such materials that are suitable/approved by the implementing party (mounting company).
It is mandatory that the sides and/or holes of the glass laminated by PVB, and the detailed edges thereof are to become impermeable by means of using such silicones, tapes and similar materials that are approved /suitable for the interlayers used for the production of the laminated glass. This is the responsibility of the implementing party.
Glass consisting of lamination are (assessed considering the holes, CNC edges, cavities etc.) statically calculated and, then could be untempered, partially tempered or tempered. Statics calculations and the choice of resistance level considering where it is to be applied will be of the responsibility of the implementing party.
Our company is required to manufacture the products in line with the applicable standards considering the details submitted by the implemented party in respect of sizes and qualities. Our company is not responsible for the intended use, static resistance and the place of use.
In case of laminated glass used for glass balustrades and similar applications, the glass should not be used before being tempered, and in case of tempered glass, then it should not be used if there is information that it evacuates the system with a blanket effect at the time of breakage. For these types of applications, it is recommended that it is based on statics calculations and the partially tempered laminated glass or extra strong PVB etc. products are used.
Since there is a risk of thermal breakage in case of a laminated glass not requested to be tempered, a grinding process on the glass edge (bright grinding is recommended) would reduce the risk. The customer is expected to indicate the edge treatment on the purchase order.
For the Bullet Resistance Glass supplied from our company, in addition to the rules for the Production of Laminated Glass, the information made available on the product must be strictly complied with. For the purchase orders requesting polycarbonate (PC) materials, in order to ensure that the product is in line with the intended purpose and the polycarbonate structure is not to be damaged during the usage:
· The PC surface must face the inside (not the attack side) during the mounting. · Never remove the protective folio on the PC surface during the performance of the mounting procedures. The PC surface is sensitive and, must be protected after the completion of the mounting procedures. We recommend you apply a protective film suitable for the PC surface if you think it necessary
· The PC surface of the glass must be cleaned using the method as specified by the manufacturer and, make sure that no chemicals and hard objects are used.
· Do not expose the PC surface of the glass to high temperatures (flame-steam etc.) otherwise it will lose the optical and resistance features.
The joinery systems on which the laminated glass is installed must be designed in a way as to protect the glass in case of any movement of structures such as beam deflections, dilatation dislocations etc.
Our products are made ready for shipment/shipped for transporting purposes not for stowing/waiting purposes. When the goods are accepted, they must be unpacked (if any) and the spaces between the glass units must ve extended as soon as possible. They must be kept at tables/in warehouses that are well ventilated with no sunlight at an appropriate angle.
ARDIÇ Glass Industry Incorporated Company will not be held responsible for damages such as lamination distortions, thermal glass breakages due to the reasons listed above and such other reasons similar thereto.
GLASS BASED INSULATION UNITS
Curtain wall design; ARDIÇ Glass Industry Incorporated Company is not responsible for the design details such as aluminum profiles, U lathes, special lathes, filling apparatus, filing details and glass selections; measurements, statics calculations, applications, and mounting procedures. Our company is responsible for manufacturing the product in such sizes, thicknesses and combinations notified to us using the equipment available at our facilities in line with the details and technical drawings. The respective technical details are applied within certain tolerances during the production; our company will not be possible for detail and production differences that may occur in the future if there is no written mutual agreement at the time of the purchase order. We underline that the production will take place within the production tolerances of our factory and, the method and application will be carried out in line with the principles agreed upon by the glass manufacturer unless these are identified beforehand.
The surfaces of the aluminum cassettes to be bonded should be of eloxal suitable for being attached with silicone. There may be some problems with the adhesion of silicone with painted, sanded materials, iron and other similar materials. No bonding procedure is applied on these types of materials; if the customer wishes this procedure, then they need to forward the letter of Approval/ Responsibility and – attach the safety claws.
There should be no new type cassettes for the projects other than such systems and models approved upon the mock-ups and written confirmations. The bonding filler surface area should be calculated according to the individual projects, and these calculations should be delivered to our company together with the respective technical drawings before the project commencement. After the bonding procedure, it is recommended that the glass is fixed on the cassette with at least 4 points through the safety claws.
Example 1; the technical drawing shows the drawing with a bonding filler detail is 6mm*16mm (width / height); there are +/- tolerances considered at our factory. Regional differences in height are because they need to be stowed one on the top of the other due to the silicon structure and so that the cassettes get dry.
Example 2. In case of a request for a clip space of 4mm*4mm on the external center section of the glass based insulation unit with a filler detail with a space of 20 mm, then there may be a difference between the technical drawing and the finished product. Please note that it may not be possible to strictly comply with the technical drawing due to the material fluidity and force majeure, and there will be tolerances.
We state that there may be differences/tolerances concerning technical drawings and the production procedure. Our company’s methods and tolerances will apply unless there is a written agreement at the beginning of the project. Please note that the production is based on our factory’s manufacturing capabilities and our specified tolerances unless otherwise specified after the first shipment and, this may not be considered a defect/fault.
The customer is required to indicate on the purchase order the elevation where the application is to take place and the highest elevation during the transportation of the glass. Based on these details, a pressure balancing balloon or hole is to apply on the insulation glass upon your approval. The buyer is informed in writing of the application details for the glass for which a pressure balancing procedure is to apply, and the Pressure Balancing procedures need to be carried out accordingly immediately after the products are unloaded on the place of installation. Any type of failure due to applications that are not carried out in due time and/or that are not properly carried out is considered to be out of the Warranty Scope and the installation company is held responsible.
Our company’s warranty does not apply to all the special profile systems used on the insulation glass unit other than aluminum profiles and warm edges (u profiles, filler details, all other company systems). You are expected to specify your request for warranty period and conditions at the time of the purchase order.
An edge scrapping procedure is carried out for all the soft coated glass used on the insulation glass units. After this edge scrapping procedure, there may be color differences and line marks. This is not considered a manufacturing defect, but an inevitable consequence of the process. An edge scrapping procedure is limited to 10 mm at minimum and 50 mm at maximum. For your requests for those exceeding 50 mm, a mutual agreement is required based on a sample at the time of the purchase order. The Production Conditions of Ardıç Glass apply if there is no approval obtained based on a witness sample.
Installation materials that are used during the application of the insulation glass units and that are in touch with the insulation glass units (structural silicone, sealing silicone etc.) may react with the primary (butyl) and secondary sealants (polysulfide, polyurethane, insulation glass filler silicone) that are used for the production of the insulation glass in some cases, which may result in failures during the production of the insulation glass. This is in general called a “butyl flow”.
One must ensure that the joinery and joins are not in touch with wetness and hazardous chemicals during the production of the insulation glass, and must be completely covered by installation elements in a way as to protect against the effects of the solar rays (UV). The water discharge hole on the joinery must be checked (during the installation). The company that carries out the application (installation) is responsible for any possible failures during this process. In case of a request for UV resistance, you must order a silicon filler as a secondary sealant.
Any material that is to be used for the installation of all the glass based insulation units purchased from our company (structural silicone, sealing silicone, joint filler silicone, adhesives and other similar chemicals) should not contain any acidic solvent and, be in compliance with the primary and secondary sealants that we use. We recommend you consider the expiration dates and make sure that they are used on the appropriate surfaces.
In case of a contact between the glass based insulation units we manufacture and the materials used for the installation structural silicone, sealing silicone, joint filler silicone, adhesives and other similar chemicals), then a test must be carried out to determine the compatibility of these materials with the primary and secondary sealants that are used for the production of the glass based insulation units. The company that carries out the application is responsible for making sure that these compatibility tests are carried out by the manufacturers of the respective chemicals or the international accredited laboratories.
The installation company is expected to present the compatibility/approval for the materials it uses. All the materials used for the installation you carry out must be approved and compatible with the chemicals used for the glass based insulation units we manufacture. Please ask about the compounds we use and obtain a commitment from the manufacturers of all the materials you use during the installation that these materials are approved and, compatible with our products.
The glass based insulation units must be installed in accordance with the standard TS EN 12488 Glass in building – Recommendations on glazing – Installation principles for vertical and curved glass.
We recommend that you do not make any application on the external walls of the building after the installation in order to avoid any damage on the external sealants and glass surface. Be sure that no mechanical parts such as screws touch the surfaces and, avoid any type of damage on the external sealants for any reason. There should be no pro-installation intervention on the glass size, no repair on the construction site and no installation of such glass with damaged edges or burrs.
We recommend that you inform your end consumers of possible negative consequences of the use of dark colored curtains, roller blinds, folios, films, stickers etc. which could cause the glass based insulation units we manufacture to be heating and cooling after the installation. These types of materials may cause expansion due to local heating on the glass resulting in glass breakages (untampered, colored, reflective and laminated glass).
Be sure that the insulation glass units are not stored in exterior (directly under the sun, wet-icy) environments. A glass unit that is heated due to high temperature may expand pressuring the other one resulting in breakages. In case of rainwater accumulated on the glass, this may have a corrosive effect on the glass causing the glass units to be attached to one another. In addition, there is a risk of thermal breakage if there is no sufficient ventilation for the glass with one surface laminated, colored or reflective stored under the sun. In case of polysulfide or polyurethane used as an external sealant, the material may break down and be easily peeled off of the glass since these materials do not have any UV resistance. Our company is not responsible for failures caused by the storage conditions. You are expected to check the products you purchase upon the receipt thereof. Our company does not assume any responsibility and may not be held responsible for external scratches and stains, breakages, fractures and burrs as well as defects caused by the glass being wetted as found out after the delivery.
If the glass is to be stored prior to the installation, then the back of the units must be laid down on the pallet, the angle for the back and ground must be adjusted accordingly and, point loads must be avoided. There may be breakages due to swellings because of pressure changes and due to loads that are 2-3 times the expected ones. The glass should not be directly stacked on the concrete or dirt floor; avoid wet and humid environments.
Do not store palletized or crated products outdoors. They should be stored in an enclosed environment with appropriate moisture and temperature conditions. For an ideal storage, the recommendation is: temperature of 9–25˚ C and moisture of below 70%. Palletized or crated glass must be protected from water which may cause them to be wetted such as rain and snow. There is a higher risk of corrosion for the glass wetted while stored. Therefore, in case the glass is wetted due to condensation or for any other reason, they should be cleaned before they get dry by themselves.
